In a backyard, in the Museum District in Richmond, Virginia, there stands a Magnolia tree. It’s large and beautiful and more or less sits square in the middle of the lot. It’s beauty is only surpassed by the unfathomable amount of leaves it drops year round.

One fine day, after years of debate, we agreed that we should put a small studio right there under the canopy of the Magnolia tree. Six short-ish months later, we had a creative space right out our back door. And surprisingly, through a series of serendipitous encounters, the Washington Post deemed that the raising of this structure was news worthy enough to include within its venerable pages. Truth may, in fact, die in the darkness, but it doesn’t mind a little shade every once in a while either.
